Social Studies

Taught by: David Blair

The sixth grade curriculum will focus on ancient civilizations. Each of the civilizations that will be studied had particular beliefs about the natural world and man’s relation to it. These beliefs affected the environment. Students will examine these beliefs and look for connections between the past and the present. The focus of the seventh grade curriculum is geography. As each continent is studied, the regular studies will be amended to include the biodiversity of the region and the impact of the human society on that biodiversity. The results of that impact will be studied and predictions about the future discussed. The environmental history of the United States will be interwoven with the traditional eighth grade U. S. history curriculum. The history of the United States is often the interaction between humans and the environment.
